World Energy Solutions Secures Key Energy Efficiency Designation

BERLIN and NEW HAVEN, CT and WORCESTER, MA — (Marketwire) — 01/23/12 — World Energy Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: XWES), a leading energy management services firm, today announced it has been selected by administrators Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and The United Illuminating Company (UI) as one of their Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA) contractors. The SBEA program, funded by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and administered by the State–s utilities, is among Connecticut–s key energy efficiency offerings for small businesses. It provides cost-effective, turnkey solutions for commercial, industrial and institutional customers with an average 12-month peak demand between 10-200 kW.

By securing the Energy Efficiency Fund SBEA designation from Connecticut–s two largest utilities, World Energy gains access to well-funded markets for lighting, mechanical, energy management systems and other efficiency initiatives across the State. According to the Institute for Electric Efficiency, the State of Connecticut budgeted over $100 million in ratepayer-funded electric efficiency efforts in 2011.
