Next Alternative Affiliate Receives Major Grant for Continued Research of Nano-Technology

OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 03/06/12 — Robert Ireland, CEO of Next Alternative, Inc. (NAI) (FRANKFURT: N4H), is pleased to announce that Dr. Omar Ramahi, a Professor at Waterloo University who is working with the firm–s chemists, has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

The grant is specifically for harvesting electromagnetic energy in the micro-wave and infra-red spectra. Dr. Ramahi noted that photovoltaic-based technology, while very popular, is limited to the direct availability of solar rays, while the non-visible spectrum is available day or night. This provides a greater possibility for harnessing more energy and using it for a variety of applications – most importantly for NAI, in recharging batteries remotely.

Dr. Ramahi has relayed that the current objective is to construct a prototype, scalable electromagnetic radiation (EMR) harvesting device to operate initially within the micro-wave regime and eventually translate the technology to the infra-red regime. Next Alternative realizes that delving deeper into this fascinating process and developing proprietary technology will be vastly important not only to the company, but to Canada as a whole.

According to Ireland, “This grant awarded by the NSERC clearly shows the relevance of NAI and Dr. Ramahi–s work.” He continued, “It–s very exciting to be discovering new and better ways to garner energy. The impact and benefits of this research will be felt on a major scale.”
