OTTAWA, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 08/13/12 — The Water Chronicles in partnership with the Lake Ontario Waterkeeper are pleased to present the Waterkeeper Drink Guide, a smartphone app providing daily updated information on water advisories across Canada.
At any given time there are upwards of 1,400 Boil Water Advisories (BWAs) in Canada. You may well be living under one, and failure to boil your water when its under such an advisory could mean you and your family are ingesting disease-causing bacteria, viruses or parasites. Enter the Waterkeeper Drink Guide app, to make sure that you and your loved ones are drinking safe, clean water and are fully informed of the BWAs in your area.
The Drink Guide is a new, free smartphone app that provides you with detailed BWA information for your area and all of Canada. As well as Boil Water Advisories, the App lists Do Not Consume Orders, Blue-green Algae Alerts and Water Shortages. You can also sign up through the app to receive email notifications of any advisory in your area, ensuring that you stay up to date on the state of your drinking water.
While The Water Chronicles has been posting daily BWA updates on its website since 2006, the free iTunes App will ensure a wider distribution of this valuable information. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to work with the Lake Ontario Waterkeeper”, says publisher Josee Dechene. “We have tremendous respect for the tireless work Krystyn Tully and Mark Mattsen do every day to ensure that Lake Ontario water remains drinkable, swimmable and fishable”.
