The Friends of Washington Avenue Green () and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation () will host a community event at the site of the next Delaware River waterfront pier park. This will be an opportunity for the public to learn more about the evolving public park and trail system on the Delaware River in South Philadelphia and see new designs for Pier 53. The new pier park is expected to include public access to the end of the pier with panoramic views of the river, amenities for passive recreation, places to touch the water, and innovative ecological improvements which will provide environmental and habitat benefits. The event will include guided bird and ecology walks and activities for kids, including environmentally-themed crafts and wildlife exploration.
