America–s LNG Export Debate to Feature Highly at Zeus Annual Conference

HOUSTON, TX — (Marketwired) — 09/05/13 — Zeus Development Corporation will host its fourth annual North American LNG Exports () conference, featuring presentations from leading LNG export developers, regulators and market analysts. Freeport LNG Chairman and CEO Michael S Smith; BG Group COO Martin Houston; and Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman are among the speakers.

“Since Cheniere Energy filed its export application to the U.S. Department of Energy in 2010, officials have been debating the number of projects to authorize,” said Bob Nimocks, president of Zeus Development Corporation, organizer of the conference. “The number currently stands at three: Cheniere–s Sabine Pass, Freeport LNG and Lake Charles (a.k.a. Trunkline). Combined, they intend to export about 5.6 billion cubic feet per day, or 8% of America–s marketed production.”

Key issues to be discussed at the conference include how many more projects will be in the public interest, the role Canadian and Mexican terminals will play, and Alaska–s plans.

“We–re very pleased Tom Choi, national practice leader at Deloitte MarketPoint and Bob Broxson, VP of the Energy and Environment Practice, Charles River Associates will join a panel to debate export volumes,” Nimocks said. “In January, Deloitte MarketPoint estimated North American gas prices would rise just 12 cents as a result of some 6 Bcfd of exports, while Charles River Associates argued the US economy would be better off reserving the gas for more manufacturing.”

Also slated to provide perspectives on the issue are David Montgomery, senior vice president, NERA Economic Consulting, and Charles K. Ebinger, senior fellow and director of the Energy Security Initiative, the Brookings Institution. The DOE commissioned NERA to conduct a third-party study of how U.S. LNG exports could affect the public interest with emphasis on energy and manufacturing. Likewise, Brooking–s Natural Gas Task Force has published its perspectives.

Other speakers slated to present at the conference include Jamie Welch, CFO, Energy Transfer (Lake Charles Exports, LLC); Keith Meyer, chairman and CEO, LNG Central; Mike Juden, senior practice expert, McKinsey & Company; Sherman E. Bryant, CEO, Cambridge Energy; Rich Foley, branch chief, LNG program manager, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC); Martin Hruska, director; Excelerate; Bob Nussmeier, director, Kiewit; and Keith Bainbridge, founder, CS LNG.
