DENVER, CO — (Marketwired) — 10/23/13 — Vista International Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB: VVIT), a pioneer in efficient Waste-to-Energy technology, is pleased to update investors on the features of its newest Thermal Gasifier system. The third generation of the Thermal Gasifier is the culmination of over 20 years of experience in the design and manufacture of efficient waste-to-energy thermal conversion systems, and represents a significant leap forward for efficient gasification technology.
– While most other gasification units in the market are designed for, and can generally only handle one particular fuel specification (for example, wood waste at 10-15% moisture), the new Vista units can process virtually any hydrocarbon based feedstock (wood, tires, paper, agricultural biomass, municipal solid waste, sewage sludge, etc.), can switch fuels, and can mix combinations of these fuels with no alteration to the Thermal Gasifier. In addition, that same unit can process waste with moisture content from 0 to over 40%. This allows the operator of the unit to process the most cost effective fuel at any given time, increasing their return on investment. It also makes the unit very desirable to those involved in disaster cleanup, as there is almost always the need to dispose of multiple waste materials at a disaster site.
– A majority of the units on the market today are inefficient in that they do not completely process the incoming waste material (leaving an ash by-product that must be landfilled), and have further inefficiencies that come from waste heat escaping from the system. Conversely, the Thermal Gasifier–s settings can be custom tailored to the qualities of the waste feedstock, resulting in a complete gasification reaction. This means more energy generated, and an inert ash by-product which does not need to be landfilled, and also has various industrial uses. The unit is also designed to maximize use of the waste heat coming from the system.
– Most waste-to-energy systems in use today require frequent downtime, needing to be shut down after a period of operation of anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. The Thermal Gasifier, by contrast, is designed to operate anywhere from 3-6 months at a time, resulting in reduced maintenance costs, lower energy losses, and less wear and tear on critical components such as the refractory lining.
– Note that previous generations of the Thermal Gasifier complied with the current stringent environmental standards, even when using “dirty” fuels such as municipal solid waste. These results were accomplished with no exhaust gas treatment other that a particulate filter. Our newest unit has additional pollution limiting features and is designed to comply with future emission standards, which are expected to be even more restrictive.
Vista management believes that the newest generation of the Thermal Gasifier will set the industry standard for thermal conversion systems for low costs of installation and operation, system efficiency, and waste feedstock versatility, while maintaining ultra-low emissions.
