Register for your ecoENERGY Grant before you renovate

Whether you own a single home or multiple properties, the first step to qualifying for the ecoENERGY grant is to register. Until March 31, 2012, if you have not already received the maximum ecoENERGY grant amount you can submit another application for additional home improvements after June 6, 2011. Follow these simple steps to apply for the ecoENERGY grant and to see if you qualify for any additional rebates:

1. Registration: First, obtain a registration number when you with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) online at oee.nrcan.gc.ca or call 1 800 O-Canada (1 800-622-6232).

2. Enlist a from a local company licensed by NRCan. A certified energy advisor will need access to the entire house to perform a pre-retrofit home energy evaluation. No home energy audit will be required if the property has been evaluated under this program since April 2007. You will receive an ecoENERGY report.

3. Retrofit with Receipts: Choose, purchase and install eligible upgrades described in the ecoENERGY report, and keep your receipts for three years. The more upgrades you implement, the more money you can receive, and the more energy you can save.

4. Post-retrofit evaluation: Complete your renovations and obtain a post-retrofit evaluation no later than March 31, 2012. You must show all your receipts to your energy advisor during the final home energy evaluation to verify that eligible upgrades were purchased and installed on or after June 6, 2011.
