NEW KENSINGTON, PA — (Marketwire) — 09/14/11 — (), a provider of and services, today announced that James C. DeChellis, formerly Vice President/COO of West Penn, has been appointed President/COO.
West Penn Testing reports that advances in numerous nondestructive testing technologies, as well as changes in the regulatory environment of multiple markets, have created a need for the company to respond.
“Bringing new technologies and capabilities on line is challenging,” said N. David Campbell, West Penn–s Chairman/CEO. “In light of the progress of phased array ultrasonic testing in aerospace, waveform-capture DGS ultrasonic testing in energy, and new materials-testing requirements for implant components in the medical manufacturing sector, it is critical for West Penn to develop strong leaders who can stake out a competitive position for the company in important market segments.”
According to Campbell, since DeChellis joined West Penn Testing in 1997, the company–s workforce has tripled in size and the number of plants in the West Penn network has grown from one to three. “Jim played a leadership role in helping us achieve that growth.”
Drawing on his training in business and information technology, DeChellis–s early responsibilities with West Penn focused on lifting West Penn Testing–s conversion services for aerospace materials to best-in-class levels. His current responsibilities include aligning the expansion of the company–s testing capabilities with the diverse needs of customers in aerospace, land-based-gas-turbine, and medical manufacturing markets.
“Our goal has always been to establish West Penn Testing as a company recognized for setting global standards in the materials-testing industry,” said Campbell. “Jim has 15 years of experience at West Penn supporting that standard-setting effort.”
DeChellis is a member of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
