Dr. Bickerstaff received a PhD in chemistry from Carnegie Melon University. His training in the oil and gas industry began as a child as his family mentored him as they drove through the oil fields of Western Pennsylvania (now known as the Marcellus and Utica shale formations), selecting well locations and even participated on his first well at age nine. He went on to earn multiple degrees including chemistry, robotics and economics, as well as securing four securities licenses. Over the past few decades, he has developed a successful consulting business serving industries with special emphasis and expertise in the technical area of fluids management.
