Building Turbines– Rooftop Mounted Wind Turbine to Be Studied by The University of Texas at Austin Mechanical Engineering Design Program

AUSTIN, TX — (Marketwire) — 09/28/11 — Building Turbines, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: BLDW), a designer and manufacturer of commercial rooftop wind turbine systems and other renewable energy technologies, announced today it has been chosen as sponsoring company for The University of Texas at Austin Mechanical Engineering Design Project (MEDP) program.

The MEDP program, which embraces a public-private partnership between the university and commercial enterprise, provides mechanical engineering students with hands-on, practical applications experience, while the sponsoring company enjoys the benefit of having a team of engineering seniors evaluating every aspect of the company–s product design, components, specifications, operability, cost structure and overall commercial potential.

“We–re delighted to partner with The University of Texas on this project,” said John Graham, founder and CEO of Building Turbines. “We welcome the students– recommendations for improving the design and mechanical integrity of our rooftop wind turbine, which ultimately will improve its efficiency and make our systems more attractive from a return on investment perspective.”

Graham said Building Turbines has asked the Austin Green Energy Group (AGEG) to provide technical oversight on the MEDP program. As a local non-profit, AGEG–s mission includes promoting education and solutions for efficient energy utilization.

“The Austin Green Energy Group is proud to offer technical support and professional assistance to Building Turbines in their renewable energy efforts. It is our desire to help facilitate sustainable energy projects and work with companies like Building Turbines to help create –Green Energy– job opportunities in Austin,” said Bernie Johnson, president and CEO of the AGEG.

The team of UT mechanical engineering seniors will begin their review and assessment of the Building Turbines rooftop wind turbine system immediately. Required elements of the program will be undertaken throughout the entire fall 2011 semester, with a final report and presentation being delivered to Building Turbines executives in early to mid December.
