Hundreds Recycle Over 12,000 lbs During Rockland Shred Event

PEARL RIVER, NY — (Marketwire) — 10/21/11 — Palisades , the largest Rockland County based Credit Union, collected over 12,000 pounds of sensitive documents during October 15th–s annual “Rockland County Shred Day.” Nearly 500 participants showed up for the multi-location event that took place concurrently at each of the Credit Union–s Rockland County branches.

“As Rockland County–s community Credit Union, we were delighted with the turnout and feedback from community members,” explained Mark Welshoff, President & CEO of the . “The Shred trucks at our Nanuet, Orangeburg and New City branches were all extremely busy throughout the entire event recycling over six tons of paper.” The , who founded this annual event, invited anyone to participate in this year–s festivities by shredding and recycling documents that contained personal identifying information such as, social security numbers, account information, addresses, and telephone numbers.

In an effort to help combat the growing threat of identity theft and fraud, each year Palisades Federal Credit Union hosts an annual Shred day where people can safely discard any and all documents containing confidential information. “I am so grateful that Palisades Federal Credit Union is providing this preventative service,” stated M.
