ARLINGTON, VA — (Marketwire) — 06/27/12 — Ewire — Steve Washburn, CEO of global environmental and health sciences consultancy ENVIRON Holdings, Inc., is pleased to announce that 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the firm opening its doors to help resolve its clients– most demanding environmental, health and safety issues. According to Washburn, “Three decades of helping to guide efforts to protect human health and the environment, attracting the best and the brightest consultants, and keeping pace with the increasingly complex technical and regulatory challenges facing our clients have shaped us into the dynamic global firm we are today.”
The numbers attest to the firm–s success. 2011 was a record year for ENVIRON in both revenues and profit, with gross revenues topping $280,000 million — an increase of about 18% over 2010. Profits were up 26% compared to 2010. ENVIRON COO Tom Vetrano attributes this growth during a challenging economy to the firm–s reputation for providing value-added assistance, as well as the diversity of its service offerings and client base.
Organizational Growth
Founded in 1982 in Washington, DC, ENVIRON–s early growth was driven by a strong demand for chemical risk assessment and risk management services — fueled by the need to more effectively manage exposure and health risks related to the products and by-products of industry and technology. Three decades, the firm–s two original offices and initial service mix of Toxicology & Risk Assessment, Occupational Health & Safety, Merger & Acquisition Due Diligence, and Litigation & Regulatory Support have evolved to encompass more than 25 interrelated technical, scientific and engineering services provided by a seamless network of more than 1000 professionals serving clients from 85 offices in 19 countries. Washburn attributes ENVIRON–s higher staff retention relative to its peers — especially among senior-level practitioners, where turnover is very low — in large part to this seamless global network, which affords opportunity to work together with professionals around the world on challenging, multidisciplinary client engagements. While the firm–s employee ownership structure and profitability is also important to consultant retention, “at the end of the day, it–s about the work and the professional challenge for this group of highly talented and driven consultants.”
African Expansion
In early 2012, ENVIRON established its first African operations in Johannesburg, South Africa. The firm has been active for a number of years on the African continent, where the economy is growing and the emerging market for environmental services robust.
Brand Refinement
ENVIRON celebrated its 30th anniversary by introducing a new brand to reflect the firm–s singular ability to bring clarity at the intersection of science, business and policy where clients– most challenging issues arise. Three decades of service in this space enhances our ability to provide objective analysis and insightful, cost-effective solutions.
