Adamson Analytical has been diligently at work to meet client needs in an unpredictable and ever-changing environment. This past year was especially challenging given the worldwide pandemic and wildfires throughout California. With many vineyards and vintners left scrambling to salvage their product and determine the extent of fire damage, Adamson stepped up to the plate. Through sheer dedication, Adamson was able to develop and secure accreditation in a matter of weeks for the analysis of ?smoke taint? in grapes and wines.
The investment in Adamson?s pesticides program also tells a similar story. According to numerous sources, nearly 70 percent of the fresh produce sold in the U.S. contains residues of potentially harmful chemical pesticides. The pesticides multi-method developed uses state-of-the-art instrumentation (GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS) to analyze over 700+ chemicals. The method has also been fully accredited for use in food and food products. Another method was also developed to test polar pesticides such as glyphosate since it cannot be analyzed by the multi-method.
In terms of Adamson?s cosmetic improvement, routine microbiology testing for cosmetics currently focuses on USP for screening (Total Plate Count and Yeast & Mold) and USP for pathogens (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). While the testing program mentioned above covers most common bacteria and hazardous microorganisms, it may not be sufficient to exclude all potential microbiological risks. This is evidenced by the fairly recent warning letters issued by the FDA due to positive findings of microbiological contaminants.
