HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — (Marketwire) — 08/31/11 — Within the next five years, experts predict that 36 states will face serious water shortages, and yet each American uses more than 100 gallons per day. To encourage Americans to , , recipient of the 2011 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence award, joins a coalition of industry leaders, including Lowe–s, Kohler, Proctor & Gamble and the EPA–s WaterSense program, in sponsoring the national public service campaign.
“Water and energy efficiency is at the core of the Bosch DNA and we are proud to join these important industry leaders in encouraging Americans to save water,” said Micaela Shaw, Brand Manager for Bosch home appliances. “We too agree that wasting water is weird — that–s why we engineer our appliances to use as little water as possible without compromising performance. We hope that this campaign will encourage Americans to take a second look at their water habits.”
The Wasting Water is Weird campaign takes a fun and humorous approach to educating individuals about the shortage of freshwater and small steps that can help conserve water. Central to the campaign is “Rip the Drip,” a “weird,” comedic character who uses a series of videos and trivia to point out when consumers are wasting water in their daily lives. Consumers can also reach out on Facebook at , or on Twitter at to learn more about how they are wasting water.
“As just one example of why this campaign is so important, a recent survey fielded on our behalf found that almost half of Americans think washing dishes by hand saves more water than using a dishwasher,” said Shaw. “In actuality, hand washing dishes requires 43 gallons of water, compared to Bosch dishwashers which can use as little as two gallons.”
As the quietest and most efficient dishwasher line in North America, Bosch home appliances proudly offers a line of dishwashers available exclusively at Lowe–s that are equipped with advanced features, like Half Load Wash for smaller loads of dishes without wasting water and energy, to use less resources without compromising performance.
