SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/24/13 — Causes.com, the world–s largest online campaigning platform, today announced the launch of the Supporter Network. Founded as one of the first ten Facebook applications, Causes is now a purpose-driven network that connects like-minded individuals, celebrities, nonprofit organizations and socially responsible brands around the world to inspire collective action.
“We saw a need for a purpose-driven network that connects people who have expressed interest in creating change together over time,” said Matt Mahan, CEO Causes. “Until now, online activism has primarily consisted of the occasional, one-click action. This old model relies on expensive direct marketing channels, rather than empowering individuals to get deeply involved in creating social change. By building a dedicated network for social good, we are giving people an opportunity to form new connections and take collective action for the causes that matter most to them.”
To bolster the Supporter Network, Causes.com is introducing several new features that help campaign organizers recruit supporters, distribute content and grow a campaign to scale. Newly designed features include:
Profiles – Causes members can create profiles that showcase the issues they care about. As you build your profile, the Supporter Network helps you discover like-minded members, relevant campaigns and cause-related content. Posting about human rights or animal cruelty on other social channels often feels out context. On Causes people have a dedicated space to assert their beliefs and share ideas, stories and news amongst supporters who can help make an impact.
Campaign Pages & Personal Campaigns – Causes recently unveiled campaign pages, a tool for campaign organizers to communicate a goal and mobilize supporters. Supporters can help raise awareness by sharing personal stories, comments, photos, videos and news articles. Personal campaigns distribute responsibility to supporters who wish to recruit others by setting a personal goal within the context of a larger campaign. For example, a campaign supporter can set a personal fundraising goal of $50 for an organization or aim to contribute towards a larger campaign that aims to raise $10,000 for breast cancer research.
Supporter Insights – Supporter Insights provide free analytics for nonprofits and brands. Professional organizations can leverage demographics data to measure impact and send targeted emails to supporters.
Causes offers nonprofit organizations and brands an opportunity to engage with the world–s largest socially conscious audience and provides the tools they need to run successful campaigns. Supporter Network launch partners include World Wildlife Fund, Not for Sale, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Emergency USA, Malaria No More, Somaly Mam, Global Zero, Trevor Project, Rock the Vote, Greenpeace, Motion Picture & Television Fund, National Trust for Historic Preservation, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, Toyota, Budweiser, and Kashi.
Additionally, the Supporter Network allows celebrities to create dynamic personal profiles, reach an engaged supporter base and draw attention to specific issues and campaigns. Causes celebrity launch partners include: Actor Hugh Jackman (Social Services/Small Business Aid), Singer Ricky Martin (Anti-Child Trafficking), Actress Kristin Chenoweth (Animal Welfare), Actor Gary Sinise (Veterans), San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt (Human Trafficking), former U.S. Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and Captain Mark Kelly (Gun Safety) and Actor Ed Begley Jr. (Environment).
