H2O Innovation: Professional Water Technologies Launches SpectraGuard(TM) 350, a High Performance Chemical Pretreatment for Reverse Osmosis and Water Reclamation Plants

VISTA, CALIFORNIA — (Marketwire) — 02/27/12 — H2O Innovation Inc. (“H2O Innovation” or the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE: HEO)(ALTERNEXT: MNEMO:ALHEO) announces that its Professional Water Technologies (“Professional Water Technologies” or “PWT”) business unit, specialized in reverse osmosis specialty chemicals and membrane forensics services, announces the debut of its new high performance antiscalant, SpectraGuard 350. SpectraGuard 350 has been developed to provide a much higher level of protection and control over inorganic and colloidal species in water reclamation plants and brackish water reverse osmosis plants.

“In a synergistic formula using our patent pending dendriplex technology and a blend of phosphonates, this chemical has attributes that meet or exceed our competitors– offering and at a reduced dose rate. It is a very promising addition to our line of membrane systems specialty chemicals and one with great market potential in the fast-growing segment of water reclamation plants,” said David Russell, Vice President of Professional Water Technologies.

Recently certified for use by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to ANSI/NSF Standard 60, SpectraGuard 350 is already in use in a major water reclamation plant in Arizona. PWT and H2O Innovation–s sales teams have started to market the innovative product to their customer base in the U.S. and Canada while PWT–s growing network of international distributors are in the process of adding it to their product line-up in their respective local markets.

Compatible with all membrane types and system components, SpectraGuard 350 provides excellent performance and protection against fouling by inorganic species such as carbonate and sulfate scales, silica, and metal hydroxides. With its stable molecular structure maintaining integrity in high pH, high temperature and high salinity applications, SpectraGuard 350 is able to work in an environment with higher levels of colloidal foulants such as water reclamation plants and brackish water reverse osmosis plants. Combining a blend of phosphonates to PWT–s unique dendriplex technology, SpectraGuard 350–s formulation is low phosphate, making it more desirable in environmentally conscious markets.

“SpectraGuard 350 raises the bar both for operators of membrane systems, with higher performance, and for their respective purchasing departments – with lower overall operations costs. It could very well be the most economical, high performance scale inhibitor currently available,” said Greg Madden, PWT–s Sales and Service Manager.

Professional Water Technologies– SpectraGuard 350 is launched today during the 2012 Membrane Technology Conference, the premier event for membrane applications in North America, taking place in in Glendale, AZ from February 27 to March 1. AWWA and AMTA have teamed together for the first time to host this joint conference and exposition showcasing membrane applications and developments. H2O Innovation and Professional Water Technologies are exhibiting at the Conference.

H2O Innovation–s Richard Chmielewski, West Coast Regional Sales Manager, and PWT–s Ryan Furukawa, Regional Sales Manager, have both been invited as speakers in half-day pre-conference workshops on membrane filtration. Richard Chmielewski–s workshop focuses on reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membrane applications, design and economics of RO/NF membrane systems, while Ryan Furukawa–s panel focuses on microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes and their systems, maintaining and increasing membrane production capacity, facility upgrades and startups, as well as membrane cleaning, and autopsies.
