WASHINGTON, DC — (Marketwired) — 09/05/13 — The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) is conducting a symposium with global experts on “Ultraviolet disinfection for infection prevention, healthcare opportunities and application trends,” on September 21, 2013 at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The symposium will address a crucial issue in healthcare: the rising infection rates in hospitals and other facilities. Experts will provide solutions to contamination through the application of UV technologies designed to disinfect water and air. Cost to attend is $125 per person.
This healthcare disinfection symposium will precede another important event, the World Congress 2013, co-sponsored by the IUVA and International Ozone Association (IOA). Worldwide experts and industry leaders on UV technology will be in attendance at the World Congress 2013, from September 22-26 at the Mirage Resort and Casino.
IUVA members will also be participating in a series of events at the World Congress 2013. On September 20th, secondary school students in the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) field interested in learning more about careers in UV technology are invited to attend the Pre-College Symposia from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Mirage. Students can pre-register online.
Another IUVA sponsored event at the World Congress 2013 is: “UV Workshop: Exploring UV Disinfection: Water, Wastewater, Reuse” on September 22 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This workshop features a consulting engineering firm, manufacturer, and utility UV experts. Technology trends will be highlighted, along with case studies.
The Jim Bolton Special Symposium will honor an influential member of the IUVA, known to many as “the father of UV technology.” Jim Bolton–s former students and colleagues will give presentations related to his distinguished research in the field of UV on September 24, from 8:15 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. at the Mirage Resort and Casino. Jim Bolton will give a keynote address at 5:15 p.m.
IUVA–s mission is to advance the science, engineering and applications of ultraviolet technologies to enhance the quality of human life and to protect the environment. Founded in 1999, it is a 501(c)3 educational association of more than 500 members in 35 countries. IUVA is recognized as the leading knowledge base and voice for UV technologies through its varied conferences and programs. Visit .
