Two new distribution network control centres will be implemented by the end of 2019 to contribute to an efficient and reliable power supply in the metropolitan area of Cairo. On October 4th, Lahmeyer International signed a contract for providing the corresponding consulting services to the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC).
The Egyptian state television, ERTU, broadcasted the official contract awarding ceremony and showed the handshake between Eng. Gaber Desouky Moustafa, Chairman of EEHC (in the picture on the right-hand side) and Dr Ralf Bucher, Head of Power Transmission and Distribution at Lahmeyer International. The contract signing was witnessed by H.E. Dr Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, Egypt–s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, seen in the centre of the photograph.
The contract is part of the comprehensive modernisation programme for the energy infrastructure planned by the Egyptian Ministry for Energy. No less than fourteen load dispatch centres are to be modernised or newly built in two phases in the country. The cities of Cairo and Alexandria will be undertaken initially, with other regions of the country to follow.
