Creglingen, 05.09.2012 – PV module manufacturer WINAICO supports Team MED IN ITALY at this year´s Solar Decathlon Europe. The team consists of team “Roma Tre” (University Architecture, Economy and Engineering Schools) and team “La Sapienza” (University Industrial Design Apartment). As sponsor, WINAICO provides Team MED IN ITALY with its proven modules of the WSP series and all necessary accessories.
In the field of renewable energies and architecture, Solar Decathlon is one of the most important international competitions with pathbreaking character: Solar Decathlon is annually held by the U.S. Department of Energy. The competition challenges 20 collegiate teams to design, build and operate the most attractive, effective and energy-efficient solar-powered house. The building planned by MED IN ITALY produces three times more power than it consumes.
“The Solar Decathlon creates awareness for energy-efficient building and shows in an impressive way how the use of renewable energies comes along with the increase of convenience as well as the quality of design and life. This competition confirms the elementary part of photovoltaics as source for primary energy and as inherent part of the independency from electricity tariffs”, said Marco Ippoliti, Managing Director of WINAICO Italia S.r.l.
The Solar Decathlon Europe 2012 takes place from September 14th to 30th 2012 in Madrid.
