Remedial Construction Services, LP Launches New Division

HOUSTON, TX — (Marketwire) — 02/02/12 — Remedial Construction Services, LP (RECON), based in Houston, Texas, announced the launch of a new division, Recon Oil Field Services. This new division focuses on environmental remediation technologies to manage oilfield exploration and production wastes. The technologies treat the liquids produced during drilling, hydro-fracturing, and production as well as treatment of cuttings and drilling mud. This new divisions brings 23 years of remediation experience and one of the best safety records to this industry to protect employees, the public and the environment.

The domestic growth in the energy industry has increased the need for cost-effective and environmentally responsible technologies for processing wastes generated by drilling and production operations. In addition, more rigorous environmental policies have challenged current practices. Recon Oil Field Services was formed to bring robust and cost effective solutions developed over two decades of service to the midstream and downstream energy markets.

“RECON has, since inception, focused on developing and supplying innovative solutions to the environmental challenges faced by oil refineries. The more stringent environmental standards under which refineries operate has resulted in RECON developing cost effective treatment technologies that produced waste or recycled materials that protect human health and the environment. To limit our client–s future liability and to meet more stringent regulatory requirements, Recon is now offering these technologies to the upstream segment of the energy industry,” stated Steven Birdwell, RECON–s Chief Executive Officer.

To avoid further regulation and future liability, the energy industry has raised the bar on environmental practices. However, the added environmental safety does not necessarily result in an increase in costs. As an example, recycling frac and production water is significantly less expensive than the practice of purchasing water and deep well disposal after use. Similarly drill cuttings can be treated to leachability standards that meet most states– regulations at less cost than the current practice of solidification.

“Our main goal is to work as a team with the energy companies to optimize their current practices to drive down cost and decrease long-term liabilities,” said Steven Birdwell.
