Rock the Earth and AEG Live Rocky Mountains Kick-Off “America Recycles Day” on Nov. 15

DENVER, CO — (Marketwired) — 11/13/13 — National environmental advocacy organization has announced it will partner with AEG Live Rocky Mountains to collect and recycle old cell phones at every show at the Ogden Theatre, Bluebird Theater, and Gothic Theatre. The drive kicks-off on America Recycles Day,” taking place Nov. 15.

Starting on Nov. 15, the general public can stop by the Ogden Theatre, Bluebird Theater and Gothic Theatre box offices between noon and 6 p.m. (or while attending any concert), to drop off their old, unwanted phones and will be entered into a monthly contest to win a pair of tickets to a concert of the winners– choice (subject to availability).

“We are very excited about expanding our partnership with AEG Live Rocky Mountains in honor of America Recycles Day,” said Marc Ross, founder and executive director of Rock the Earth. “AEG Live–s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability is commendable, making AEG Live the leaders in the music industry.”

Since 1997, communities across the country have come together to educate, motivate and promote recycling in the U.S. on “America Recycles Day.” Rock the Earth and AEG Live Rocky Mountains decided to collaborate on a cell phone recycling drive because every year 100 million cell phones become obsolete, and one billion new mobile phones were issued last year in the U.S. alone, yet less than 10 percent ever get recycled. The more phones recycled, the less toxic chemicals will threaten America–s most precious natural resource — our drinking water supply.

“We are proud to be participating in such an important cause with Rock the Earth. AEG Live Rocky Mountains knows that every person and every business can make a huge impact, and we are excited to help offer our venues as locations to recycle cell phones and improve environmental sustainability,” said Mary Sullivan, venue manager for the Ogden Theatre, Bluebird Theater and Gothic Theatre.
