LAS VEGAS, NV — (Marketwire) — 04/20/12 — As Las Vegas prepares to recognize Earth Day, Club Ride Commuter Services, an employer-based sustainable transportation program established by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), officially welcomes The Venetian and The Palazzo as the first employer to join the program at the platinum partner level.
As part of The Venetian and The Palazzo–s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainable initiatives through the Sands Eco 360 program, more than 750 team members have signed up thus far for Club Ride and made the commitment to use an alternative form of transportation to work, such as public transit or carpooling.
Since joining Club Ride, The Venetian and The Palazzo have recorded more than 7,800 clean commute trips, which include carpooling, taking transit, cycling, walking and riding motorcycles or scooters. In all, the employee participation at the two properties has reduced 31,775 miles from our roads and removed 12.3 tons of greenhouse gas emissions from the air.
“As the world–s largest LEED®-certified, green building, we continue to challenge ourselves to find ways to have a positive impact on the environment,” said Katarina Tesarova, executive director of global sustainability for The Venetian and The Palazzo. “Club Ride changes the way our team members think, understanding the significant impact that we can have as individuals. We are proud to become platinum partners in this important program.”
As a platinum partner, The Venetian and The Palazzo participate in certain programs including quarterly events, preferential parking, discounted monthly transit passes, pre-tax payroll deductions, and alternative work schedules.
“We are proud to welcome The Venetian and The Palazzo as the first Las Vegas employer to join Club Ride at the platinum level, the highest participation level in the program,” added Tina Quigley, RTC general manager. “The Venetian and Palazzo are certainly leading the way in Southern Nevada in promoting sustainable transportation options for their employees.”
