CALGARY, ALBERTA — (Marketwired) — 07/24/13 — Seair Inc. (TSX VENTURE: SDS) (“Seair” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has received a purchase order for two specially designed SA 75 diffusion towers from a major North American municipality. The towers will be installed in a pilot plant to test the ozonation process to be incorporated in the municipality–s wastewater treatment plant. The plant is one of the largest in the world and will be among the first to disinfect wastewater using ozonation, a cutting-edge technology that uses ozone to remove bacteria, viruses, harmful pharmaceutical drugs and industrial chemicals. The ozonation facility will be added to the current treatment plant.
The diffusion towers will be installed in a scaled down pilot version of the larger treatment plant, treating approximately 20 cubic meters of wastewater per day. In contrast, the commercial facility will treat approximately 20 cubic meters per second. Seair–s CEO Ric Charron says, “Although this order is small as it is only for the pilot plant, it is significant for us because it reflects the confidence that a major city has in our technology. The municipality reviewed all of the available ozone diffusion technologies for their state-of-the-art treatment plant and chose Seair–s. Provided the pilot is successful, the next step is the commercial ozonation facility, which will be an order of magnitude larger. The results from the pilot will take at least 6 months to obtain, but a successful outcome in one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in the world will position Seair–s technology as a leading solution for municipal wastewater treatment.”
Charron also cites the new federal wastewater treatment effluent regulations that require municipalities to meet more stringent effluent standards as having a potentially positive impact for Seair. “There are more than 850 Canadian wastewater treatment plants that require upgrades to comply with the new federal regulations and the cost of the required plant upgrades has been forecasted at $6 billion. Aging infrastructure is a problem across North America and since Seair–s technology can be installed to improve the performance of existing wastewater plants, we think we can provide a cost-effective alternative for municipalities to upgrade their plants to meet higher standards. A successful outcome here will open up new opportunities to work with municipalities and help them address their wastewater treatment challenges.”
Seair also reports that Mr. Clarence Muzechka has resigned as director of Seair effective immediately and that Mr. Greg Marr has resigned as Chief Financial Officer effective August 23rd, 2013. Mr. Marr will continue to assist Seair during the balance of his term to facilitate an orderly transition with his replacement. The Company is in discussions with candidates for replacing the departing officers. Seair is grateful for the contribution that Mr. Muzechka and Mr. Marr have made during their terms of service and wish them well in their future endeavors.
ABOUT SEAIR
Seair Inc. (TSX VENTURE: SDS) develops proprietary technology and equipment that diffuses gases, such as oxygen, ozone and carbon dioxide, into liquids. Seair–s patented technologies can produce micron size bubbles that are more efficient than other diffusion technologies because the diffused gases remain in solution for extended periods of time, leading to increased productivity and lower operating costs. The process facilitates gas-based treatment of complex and challenging industrial wastewater and allows Seair to provide full water reuse and closed loop systems.
Seair applications include oil sands SAGD water solutions, frac and produced water treatment, industrial ponds treatment, mine dewatering/treatment, end-to-end sewage treatment for permanent residential communities and remote work camps, golf course irrigation and pond treatment. Seair is also working on a project for industrial emissions treatment.
