JACKSON, MI — (Marketwired) — 11/07/13 — Selfridge Air National Guard Base is an Air National Guard installation located in Harrison Township, Michigan near Mount Clemens. Selfridge Field was one of the thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the United States entry into World War 1, and has been in existence since April of 1917.
In early 2013, and in preparation for a major lighting upgrade, the base began evaluation of fixtures, focusing on reducing energy consumption, lowering maintenance costs, and lengthening fixture life span.
Selfridge worked cooperatively with Gasser-Bush Associates out of Livonia, Michigan to find a solution that would meet their facility codes, improve illumination, and significantly lower energy costs. Due to the demands of the massive base, facility managers were concerned about light levels, installation deadlines, reliability, and procurement relative to energy reduction and US Made requirements. The specification criteria called for an energy efficient lighting solution that would lower maintenance costs while increasing energy savings.
Subsequently, the Air National Guard replaced nearly four-hundred metal halide 400 watt high bay fixtures with EverLast® 250 watt induction lights. “The U.S. Government continues to select EverLast® because we meet, and exceed the U.S. Made requirements,” explained Bryan Schultz, Regional Sales Manager of EverLast® Lighting, Inc.
EverLast® induction light fixtures are 50-70% more energy efficient than metal halides and last up to 100,000 hours, making them virtually maintenance free for up to 15 years. The EverLast® 250 watt aluminum high bay fixtures provide a more natural and high color rendition light quality unlike traditional metal halide fixtures. EverLast® Induction lighting fixtures are also available with a dimmable option, providing even more energy savings while areas are vacant.
“We–ve also been selected at other military bases such as Fort Drum in New York, Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, and Andersen Air Force Base in Guam,” Schultz commented.
EverLast® Lighting, Inc. is a sister company of Full Spectrum Solutions, Inc. and has quickly grown into the leading manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting solutions for roadway, parking structure, facility and area lighting applications.
