SGS was awarded a contract to provide comprehensive quality assurance and safety monitoring services on the transmission line near Surat, in India by a major player in the power and energy sector in India on March 19, 2012.
The contracted works, which started at the beginning of April, include the monitoring of all field activities and the pre-dispatch inspection of materials and equipment bought for the laying of the 440KV transmission line for the power transmission project in India.
Consisting of tower construction, the power transmission project also entails the overhead stringing of transmission lines and the laying of tower foundations. The project owner, one of the most experienced private sector players in Gujarat, was pleased to award SGS the 12 month contract due to SGS’s first-rate experience and competence in quality assurance and safety monitoring. With another three months pencilled in for the project, SGS anticipates further building on a professional relationship consisting of mutual trust and appreciation, having previously provided client satisfaction with its third party services for wind energy and infra projects in Gujarat, India.
