SGS’ dominant presence in the BWEA30 Exhibition drew attention from various interest groups in the wind energy market. The UK is one of the fastest growing energy markets in the world with the British government’s demand to generate 15% of the total electricity from the renewable resources by 2020. Hence, the current scale of the investments create necessity for design verification, inspection, and supervision services for the wind farms under construction along with the wind farms in operations.
SGS attended the largest ever BWEA30 Exhibition in London on 21st – 23rd October 2008. British Wind Energy Association (BWEA), which is the UK’s leading renewable energy business organisation with over 440 members drawn from across the wind, wave and tidal industry, represents well over 98% of the sector. Over 2,600 people attended and 190 companies exhibited at BWEA–s 30th annual conference and exhibition. The major players in the wind energy market such as E.ON Climate & Renewables, Scottish Power Renewables, Scottish and Southern Energy, EDF Energy Renewables, Vestas, Siemens attended the exhibition.
